IOTA was commissioned by contractor Bouygues UK Ltd to design, manufacture and supply bespoke steel tree planters for the new School of Management building at the University of Bath.
Solution
The planters were fabricated from 3mm-thick zintec steel, zinc-primed and polyester powder-coated to RAL 7037 [Dusty Grey].
Measuring 1200 (l) x 1200 (w) x 1000mm (h), they are designed to be movable via forklift, and included forklift channels lined with 304-grade stainless steel for protection.
About the building
Opened in 2022, the new School of Management building is situated at the main entrance to the University of Bath campus, and was designed by pioneering British architects Hopkins.
The landmark £45m, seven-storey building offers an airy, open layout which aims to foster collaboration.
It also integrates the latest technology enabling the University to begin teaching differently, facilitating world-class research, and helping to attract increased numbers of postgraduate students.
