Challenge

IOTA was commissioned to supply large, bespoke corten steel and timber planter / benches for the transformative Mulberry Place leisure project in Daventry.

Solution

All items were fabricated from 3mm-thick corten steel, pre-weathered before shipment, and FSC iroko timber.

Scope of works

A single 14m-long bench in a ‘hockey shape’ arrangement, including 5 linear metres (LM) of backrests, is located in the cinema piazza, along with two additional planter / benches of different arrangements, the largest with a total perimeter of 39 LM, including 22 LM of benching and 8 LM of backrests.

A further planter / bench is located in the adjoining North Street to create a visual signposting link between Mulberry Place and the High Street.

About Mulberry Place

The Mullberry Place Cinema Complex is a transformative leisure project which has seen the former library buildings off North Street demolished to make way for a 4-screen cinema complex that includes restaurants, a public square and splash fountains.
