Overview

Outdoor Deck's installation team was tasked with removing the existing deck and frame at Princess Alice Hospice in Esher, and replacing the decked area with new Millboard composite deck boards. Glass balustrades with aluminium frames and handrails were installed around the edge of the deck.

Each of the 28 bedrooms at the Hopsice have views of the beautiful gardens and access to the external decked areas overlooking the large koi pond surrounding the building.

Providing a safe exterior surface was of high importance on this project for a charity which is dedicated to giving high-quality care and support for adults with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses. Millboard composite deck boards were specified as each board is topped with an anti-slip coating that has excellent non-slip performance, plus the boards are non-porous which results in high resistance to algae growth and weathering.

Outcome

The project presented many challenges especially as the main structure and frame was submerged in water but with the expertise of Outdoor Deck's in-house teams the project was delivered on time and exceeded the client's expectations on quality and design.
