Context
Identified as a key national infrastructure sector by the UK Government, the water industry has invested heavily in upgrading perimeter security systems with the aid of LPCB (Loss Prevention Certification Board) and LPS 1175 rated security fencing.
As part of these upgrades Lochrin Bain supplied 450m of fencing and gates, including specially fabricated panels and bespoke fabrication work, for a project at a water treatment works in the north of England.
Product supplied
LPS 1175 Issue 8: B3 (SR2) Combi™ SL2 palisade security fencing was chosen by main contractor, NMCN, for its ease of installation, requiring no specialist tooling, and the fact that the system is designed to rake easily, solving issues raised with other security fencing solutions previously used.
Challenge
The to be secured featured various problematic sections with pipes running through the fenceline or having to go up against uneven wall sections whilst always maintaining the specified security rating. The team at installers IP Jones worked with Lochrin Bain's technical department to ensure original concepts and ideas were transformed into full technical drawings for approval prior to manufacturing in-house. This resulted in a quick, simple and professional installation on site.
Product specification
Lochrin Combi™ SL2 palisade high-security fencing uses a unique, patented vee-slot design with additional security features which helped it gain LPS 1175 Issue 8: B3 (SR2) accreditation. Unlike traditional palisade fencing which can be easily compromised, the Combi™ SL2 fence has been independently tested, and also achieves Secured By Design status, a Police initiative to raise standards for perimeter security solutions.
Outcome
Everyone involved with the project was delighted with the process from original enquiry through the design stage, construction and handover. The installation team on site commented on the ease of installation being a massive selling point, with the panels raking to sloping sections across the site at ease. Working closely with I.P Jones Operations Manager and the security team at NMCN the process was smooth with the client receiving a security-rated fence on time and within budget.
