Overview
Bloom Clerkenwell is a new, tech-enhanced, managed office space located above Farringdon Crossrail station, where over 15,000 square feet of landscaped roof terraces and an in-house gym contribute to the vision of a wellness-focused work environment and its aim to achieve WELL Platinum certification for health and wellbeing.
With extensive planting on the terraces and an office-toterrace ratio of 11% - one of the highest in London – Bloom Clerkenwell is making a positive contribution towards the city’s biodiversity and clean air.
It is also striving to achieve BREEAM Outstanding accreditation for built environment sustainability, and this influence is apparent in the choice of materials used for the terrace construction sourced from Raaft®, a UK design and manufacturing company committed to sustainability and the environment.
Products supplied
The Raaft® fire-resistant aluminium joist structure used to support the terrace is both recyclable and manufactured from low-carbon materials with an A-rated Environmental Performance Certificate (EPC).
Raaft® bespoke steel planters are also made from renewable, recyclable materials.
Atria® porcelain tiles are manufactured sustainably from natural, renewable materials and energy-efficient processes.
But wellness and the environment weren’t the only factors influencing the decision to use Raaft® products for this project.
The sturdy yet lightweight construction of the terrace system’s components means they are easily moved from street level to rooftop.
The system’s support structure is reconfigurable and height adjustable, so installers can easily ensure proper drainage across the entire area and overcome issues with rooftop structures.
Raaft® floor structure panels enable planters to be installed with even weight distribution and proper drainage and without risk of damage to roof membranes.
The selection of designs in the Atria® porcelain tile range makes it possible to create beautiful outdoor areas that can host a wide variety of events and activities.
Atria® porcelain also offers a durable, low-maintenance surface that is resistant to moss, mould and algae, will never rot, and is stable and safe even when wet.
