Challenge

Norfolk County Council commissioned Fitzpatrick Woolmer to design, print, manufacture and install 16 interpretive lecterns for the Marriott’s Way Heritage Trail Project, which has transformed a former railway line into a 26-mile route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders to enjoy.

Signage was required along the length of the trail to help visitors navigate the route and embrace the history, heritage and wildlife of this much loved, traffic-free route.

Work undertaken

Fitzpatrick Woolmer's design studio created a design template that reflected the heritage of the trail and prepared map artwork to denote the full extent of the route, with 'You Are Here' markers for visitors to identify their exact location.

Working with client-supplied copy, the company designed 16 individual interpretation panels that brought to life the natural and industrial history of Marriott’s Way.

Interpretation was presented in standard Musketeer™ lecterns, manufactured from stainless steel, with full-colour n-viro™ prints for maximum longevity and lightfastness.

A full site survey was undertaken to identify hazards and assess the installation risks and the lecterns were installed over a 4 day period.
