Timber cycle shelter for Whitehouse Medical Centre
Langley Design manufactured and installed benches and a large cycle shelter for the £9.5m Whitehouse Medical Centre project in Milton Keynes. This state-of-the-art facility will serve around 22,500 people living nearby and will also be a base for Thames Valley Police. Willmott Dixon was the main contractor.
Work undertaken
A small selection of all-timber benches were installed, which had the unusual feature of the timber slats running vertical as opposed to horizontal.
The most impressive feature on this project is the timber cycle shelter. Langley Design's Sheldon range of cycle shelters offers an excellent alternative to traditional steel units. Timber offers a much softer visual in the landscape and the contrast of this against the brickwork produces a stunning aesthetic. These units are PEFC sourced so not only is it striking, it's sustainable too.
