Requirement
Langley Design was approached by Wates Construction to provide a range of external furniture and canopy products for Grove Academy, the first all-through school to open in Slough, with a capacity for almost 2000 pupils.
Work undertaken
Langley was able to offer such a mix of products, from timber canopies to galvanised and powder-coated cycle shelters, and even a secure tensile canopy. The design quality that went into this project was first class, and allowed the company to flex all of its design capabilities.
Given the requirement across the site, Langley managed to create two brand new products that will be added to its product range.
Products
Firstly Langley designed, manufactured and installed a roller shutter door tensile canopy. This allows the school to offer a covered outdoor teaching and learning area, whilst having the security to roll up and lock up at the end of the day.
Next was a gullwing style cycle shelter; this cantilevered design allows two runs of bike racks to be covered without the need for four legs per bay. This high-quality and high-spec design adds a stunning visual to the site.
Finally - and a speciality of Langley Design - two huge outdoor timber canopies were also provided. The company's timber canopies offer so many different benefits and Grove Academy is utilising all of them, from outdoor teaching, external dining, socialising, and simply a covered area for pupils to congregate under in incremental weather.
