Context

ADP Architecture’s landscape team specified Artform Urban’s High Performance Concrete (HPC) benches for a new plaza space outside the WMG building at the University of Warwick.

WMG (formerly known as Warwick Manufacturing Group) is an academic department at the University. It is a centre that provides research and education in STEM subjects: engineering, manufacturing and technology. It is the leading international role model for the successful collaboration between academia and the public and private sectors.

Requirement

The client required a small selection of different seating designs that were in the same materials as a way to link the scheme together. They were attracted to the consistent surface of the High Performance Concrete material available with reconstituted granite finish. Included with the integral and flush fitting timber toppers it provided a fresh and modern look.

Solution

Artform Urban was contracted to supply and install these large units, each weighing up to 1500kg. The company's technical involvement in the project simplified the supply and installation process for the main contractor including the experience it has of handling and installing heavy concrete units, saving time when the products arrived on site.

Outcome

The two bench designs complement each other and the campus architecture.
