Requirement

IOTA was commissioned by Monaghan County Council to supply corten steel planters, some with Cumaru timber seating, for a public realm scheme in Castleblayney, Eire.

The landscaping scheme is arranged around a bronze statue commemorating the life of country and Irish music legend Big Tom McBride, who was born in the town.

Products supplied

All items were fabricated from 3.0mm corten steel, pre-weathered before shipment.

Standard IOTA tree planter design, with steel eyes bolts in base for tree root ball anchor attachment, and diagonal cross-braces to create large central void for root ball

Non-standard design to include:

  • channels in base for movement via fork lift
  • adjustable feet

Reservoirs: to include, per planter, 2x Mona Tank 24 reservoirs, connected in series

  • bench seating to be 70 x 70mm timbers running parallel with planter faces, interlocking at corner where they join
  • spacing between 70 x 70mm timbers to be </= 6mm (as per finger entrapment avoidance guideline)
  • bench seating to have a single 70 x 150mm timber on front edge, radiused for comfort
  • backrest to be 70 x 150mm timber, shaped for comfort
  • Reservoirs: 1x Mona plant irrigation watering system - Ring 24 (4 reservoirs connected in a ring)
