Context

The Station Road housing project reinvigorated a prominent corner plot in the centre of South Norwood by creating 14 new homes two minutes’ walk from Norwood Junction Station. The site had previously been used as a surface level car park and had been vacant for nearly 30 years.

Requirement

Langley Design was tasked by Neilcott to provide a bespoke cycle and bin store facility that was not only practical but also something that looked fantastic for the residents to enjoy.

The scope was for high-quality cycle shelters with matching enclosed bin store and all the units to have sedum roofs. 18 spaces had to be fitted across two tight external areas.

Solution

As the UK's leading sedum roof cycle shelter provider, Langley Design was able to design the cycle store to the architects’ plans, using premium hardwood cumaru and a galvanised and powder coated frame.

Semi Vertical racks were used inside the shelter to provide the maximum amount of capacity available in the space given, a perfect solution for urban residential projects.

Langley Design was also chosen to design manufacture and install a matching cumaru screen behind one of the cycle stores to maintain design integrity.
