Submerged recycled plastic boardwalks - Popeye's Park
Popeye’s Park in Dumfries received National Lottery Community Funding for restoration and redevelopment of the park and the boating pond. A new wildlife area incorporates attenuation ponds, boardwalks and bird hides. These have been developed in consultation with the local wildlife ranger and Maxwelltown Secondary School.
Solution
Plaswood recycled plastic lumber boardwalks are submerged under water during rainy seasons and become viewing walkways in drier weather.
Plaswood is rot - and splinter-free, requires no maintenance, will not degrade with time, or leach chemicals into the environment, which makes it an ideal and safe building material for wet and marshy environments.
