Challenge
Fitzpatrick Woolmer was commissioned by Lewisham Borough Council to create a signage scheme for Beckenham Place Park, the largest green space in the Borough of Lewisham. The park covers 98 hectares and features ancient woodlands, London’s first purpose-built swimming lake and several historic buildings.
Work undertaken
Due to the complexity of path networks criss-crossing the park, Fitzpatrick Woolmer's services were first deployed in undertaking a complete assessment of walking routes and preparing an outline plan for the strategic placement of signage and wayfinding.
To support the new signage strategy, custom variations of the Grenadier™ signage range were designed to promote the Council’s corporate colours and create a sense of ownership and branding throughout the park.
The finished scheme included Grenadier™ fingerposts, Grenadier™ waymarking posts, Grenadier™ directional signs and public safety signs, manufactured from durable oak and powder-coated aluminium.
Services extended from the development of a comprehensive sign and wayfinding strategy, to print, manufacture and installation. A total of 16 fingerposts and 69 waymarking posts were delivered, which included over 400 waymarking discs.
