Challenge

Langley Design was chosen by Balfour Beatty to provide all of the street furniture products for the East Slope Residences at The University of Sussex.

Solution

As a leading UK manufacturer of secure timber cycle parking for the higher education sector, Langley was tasked with providing various units across the site. Each unit was designed to house two-tier racks. This allowed the client to double the amount of cycle parking on the site without doubling the footprint of the shelters. These racks are becoming increasingly popular as an affordable space-saving solution. 

Langley Design's more traditional street furniture range has been used for many years across the education sector and the company was also asked to provide a whole suite of products for this location. This included bollards and door barriers. Langley picnic table sets and matching benches, which can be used for both dining and outdoor learning, were also manufactured and installed.

The addition of an outdoor Pewsham table tennis table means the students can also enjoy a well-deserved break from their studies.
