NatraTex Colour chosen for running track resurfacing
NatraTex was the preferred option for the resurfacing of the running track located in the grounds of the Duke of York Square where Roger Bannister trained for the famous, first sub-four minute mile run. 1972m² 6mm HD Red NatraTex wearing course was applied
The Duke of York Square offers fashion, beauty, food and culture in the heart of Chelsea. It is home to 30 stores and boutiques and six restaurants, food markets and the iconic Saatchi Gallery.
Requirement
The running track where Roger Bannister trained for the famous, first sub-four minute mile run is located in the grounds and needed to be resurfaced.
Work undertaken
NatraTex was the preferred option for the resurfacing of the track.
To protect residents from excess noise and disruption during the installation, acoustic barriers were supplied and erected around the full perimeter of the works.
Planing machinery and surface removal tools were then used to remove the existing, failing coloured surface.
All waste was removed from the site, with CCTV surveys of all drains undertaken along with protection of kerbs and grass, ACO Channel replacements and cable duct installations were undertaken.
The tricky logistics and tight schedule were successfully managed, and following the base-course macadam installation, the 1972m² 6mm HD Red NatraTex wearing course was finally applied.
