Context

At 1.5million sq ft, Cobalt Park is the UK’s largest office park. The development is home to a number of public and private organisations such as the Department for Work and Pensions, North Tyneside Council, Utility Wise, Procter & Gamble, and Accenture.

Along with the offices it also houses three data centres covering 10,000m2 of data hall space and are so large that the business park has its own dedicated supply from the National Grid. It also has a back-up system to ensure that the computers at the facility never go offline.

Requirement

Physical security was key for the creation of a fencing and gate package to protect over 10,000m2 of data hall space. CLD Fencing Systems was approached to design, manufacturer and supply data centre fencing for the project.

Work undertaken

CLD Fencing supplied perimeter fencing systems and a range of physical access solutions.

  • 358 LPS 1175 SR1 fencing system

  • Anti-climb mesh

  • Sawtooth security topping

  • Upgradable system in event of change in security requirements

  • Various physical access control systems

All products were installed by a member of CLD's Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) network.

Client feedback

"With a double layer of Securus SR1 from CLD Fencing Systems, our security teams were able to create a Sterile Zone around the Data Centre in which both fencing systems had a delay time on attack of at least 60 seconds."
