Requirement

Fitzpatrick Woolmer was appointed by the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk to deliver a signage scheme for Hunstaton Heritage Gardens, following a signage and interpretation evaluation undertaken by Wynne Williams Associates.

Hunstanton is a popular seaside destination in west Norfolk, well-deserving of the considerable investment made to improve its Heritage Gardens.

Work undertaken

Services included the design of interpretation panels and orientation panels, intended to increase visitor awareness of the history of Hunstanton Heritage Gardens and improve dwell time by highlighting local amenities and attractions.

Interpretation panels were presented in accessible Chelmer lecterns, manufactured from stainless steel to withstand the harsh coastal environment, with n-viro™ printed panels for exceptional lightfastness and durability.

Enigma™ monoliths were positioned at key touch-points throughout the Gardens to aid navigation and act as gateway markers, with simple, easy-to-follow maps to help visitors orientate themselves, each designed with a 'You Are Here' marker and walking distances to encourage further exploration.

The project included a discovery trail to engage children and families, presented as cast bronze plaques placed within easy sightline, acting as stepping stones and drawing visitors towards less frequented areas.
