Context
IOTA was commissioned to design and supply bespoke steel planters for the Big Data Institute at Oxford University.
Products supplied
IOTA’s planters were commissioned directly by the University's Parks and Estates Services Department on the basis of design, manufacture and supply.
A range of bespoke products were designed for this scheme, comprising free-standing and movable tree planters, fixed planters for shrubs, and long trough planters with sloped bases to accommodate a fall.
Shrub planters and trough planters of various dimensions were fabricated from 2.0mm-thick zintec steel, polyester powder-coated to RAL 7021 (Black grey). 2000 (l) x 2000 (w) x 900mm (h) tree planters were scaled up to 3.0mm, and were PPC finished to RAL 1035 (Pearl beige).
About the Big Data Institute
The BDI is an interdisciplinary research institute that focuses on the analysis of large, complex, heterogeneous data sets for research into the causes and consequences, prevention and treatment of disease. BDI researchers develop, evaluate and deploy efficient methods for acquiring and analysing information for large clinical research studies. These approaches are invaluable in identifying the associations between lifestyle exposures, genetic variants, infections and health outcomes around the globe. The BDI is part of the Li Ka Shing Centre for Health Information and Discovery at the University of Oxford's Old Road Campus.
