Ecochoice supplied non-slip graded deck boards in a custom-made strength for the River Clyst boardwalk in Topsham near Exeter. The boardwalk and cycle path crosses an RSPB protected marsh so care was necessary with design and installation to avoid disrupting the local fauna.
Devon County Council required a lightweight, durable solution for the decking planks, with a layer of anti-slip strips.
The graded deck boards were treated to the highest possible level to ensure a long service life. Each board was also fitted with two anti-slip strips.
The deck boards were supplied pre-drilled and in fixed lengths. This helped to achieve rapid fixing and minimised site disturbance to the animals in the RSPB protected area. These boards were then screwed to FSC-certified Ekki timber joists. Ekki is one of the hardest and most durable hardwoods available and will avoid rot over the coming 50 years.
Ecochoice was also asked to deliver PAR Ekki slats to work as fencing and handrails along the bridge over the River Clyst.
