When Water UK updated its Standard for Security Arrangements for Operational Assets (SSAOA) – the benchmark for safe water regulation - Essex and Suffolk Water needed to install a new type of demarcation at its water treatment works.
As a contaminated water supply is a huge public health issue, it was critical that Essex and Suffolk Water’s treatment works had exceptional security standards and was resilient against attempted attack, in addition to their 24/7 monitoring.

Essex and Suffolk Water selected Barkers' super-durable, LPCB-certified StronGuard SR3 palisade fencing system to protect the integrity of its site and safety of its product. This solution is purpose-built to withstand persistent attacks for up to 5 minutes and delivers outstanding performance, long-term resilience and an effective deterrent.
The Barkers' team pulled out all the stops to achieve installation in a tight timeframe and at an affordable cost. This, in part, is thanks to StronGuard SR3 being able to follow sloping ground without any time-consuming on-site modifications.
The product was also hot dip galvanised at Barkers’ UK site to provide decades of resistance against weather, and minimal maintenance, meaning that Essex and Suffolk Water should satisfy regulatory requirements for years to come.
