The Royal Arsenal in London has become a desirable residential area. Developing the historic site at Woolwich has delivered new commercial space and high-quality homes, as well as creating a dynamic and culturally rich public gateway into the area.
The long-term future of these heritage buildings has been secured, opening them up to the public for the first time.

Lorenz von Ehren supplied 24 English oak trees for a public square within the site. Each individual tree was up to 9m tall, creating immediate impact. A slender fastigiate form of oak was selected - Quercus robur 'Fastigiata'. This variety, as well as being space-saving, stands very upright, like a soldier and provides a dignified backdrop to the historic site.
