Project

CLD Fencing Systems’ versatile zoo fencing has been used to create a safe and secure enclosure for two lions rescued by the Isle of Wight Zoo from a circus in Spain.

CLD had previously designed and manufactured a zoo enclosure originally for rescue tigers, which was installed by Moore Fencing Ltd. The versatile nature of the zoo enclosure allowed it to be re-purposed to house the lions.

Outcome

The adaptability of CLD’s zoo fencing has been a major cost-saving aspect for the Isle of Wight Zoo. They didn’t need to construct a brand new custom enclosure for the lions, and with this quick turnaround, the lions were brought to safety sooner than anticipated.

Zoo fencing

The versatility of CLD’s rigid mesh fencing is the reason why many zoos use its Dulok double wire range for their animal enclosures.

There are many other key features for using Dulok within zoos and wildlife parks, including:

  • twin 8mm wires welded either side of 6mm vertical wires
  • a mesh size of 200x50mm giving visitors excellent visibility
  • anti-climb and anti-cut technology which guarantees safety
  • fencing systems are available in a range of RAL colours

Other zoo projects

CLD Fencing Systems has worked on a number of zoo projects including Chester Zoo, ZSL London Zoo and Folly Farm using its range of Dulok double wire fencing.
