Context

STARPATH photoluminescent material and aggregate has been used to create a decorative surface with ambient lighting for a walkway / cycle path in Shenzhen City in China, just across the border from Hong Kong.

The Starry Greenway is located in a hill park close to the Meilin Reservoir on the outskirts of the city.

Product supplied

Over 900m2 of low-maintenance resin bound surfacing was installed using the Addagrip Terraco resin and a locally-sourced grey stone to produce a bespoke aggregate blend.

The introduction of STARPATH technology allows the surface to harness UV light during daylight hours and emit an ambient glow after dark.

Outcome

A functional resin bound walkway / cycle path during the day, the swirling design turns the pathway into an eye-catching work of art at night whilst providing low cost wayfinding without the need for additional lighting and maintenance in this rural location.
