Context

The new £45m St Mary Magdalene School caters for up to 1,646 children from nursery to sixth form ages and spans approximately two hectares of land at the base of the Greenwich Peninsula. The school has benefited from CLD Fencing Systems' dedicated school fencing.

CLD Fencing Systems worked extensively on the specification of a number of mesh fencing systems on the project with Grant Associates.

Perimeter: protected with Dulok-Lite using 656 twin wire mesh panels to make a cost-effective but high-quality school fencing design.

Playground: a screen-from-view perimeter fencing solution was achieved through the use of Exempla. Chestnut Products Limited, the main fencing contractor on the project, adapted the profiled mesh to include wooden screens.

Mark Tyrrell, Managing Director of Chestnut Products said: “We wanted to create a modern look to the play area fencing. It was important to the school and the design that natural screen from view was used. By using the Exempla mesh panels we were able to install wooden slats. The SafeTFix system gives the added advantage of no external fixings.”

Internally: the grounds benefitted from the Rotop mesh fencing system with both a rolled top and bottom. The mesh panels feature an aperture of 150 x 50mm and, like the rest of the fencing, is galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 and powder-coated RAL 5008 Blue Grey to BS EN 13438.

Sports pitches: Dulok Sports was installed on two all-weather 1G and 3G pitches with wooden kickboards to the base of each mesh panel. Access control was provided via Lockmaster swing gates with matching infill. Additional Lockmaster swing gates have been used to provide security gates on the rest of the project.
