Context

Medway Council appointed Frank Robin Burfoot to the position of town crier in 2004 and he became a memorable and well-loved part of the local community,

When he died in 2017, a memorial bench was commissioned to celebrate his life. The bench was to feature iconic landmarks from the area as well as a poem written by himself.

Work undertaken

Each of the selected images had to be carefully illustrated, giving consideration to the method by which they would be engraved into the solid oak bench. FWDP design studio prepared visuals of the bench for client approval prior to manufacturing, ensuring every detail was correct and to the client’s complete satisfaction.

The illustrations were engraved using a computer numerical control (CNC) router to create sharp, accurate images and text.

The text and images were permanently engraved into the backrest, producing a hardwearing and highly engaging memorial bench that will stand as a testament to the life and love of a man who made a significant contribution to so many people’s lives.
