- Resin bound surfacing in Derbyshire aggregate Devon Yellow
Context
With Phase two of the regeneration of Dreamland Amusement Park in Margate complete, resilient paving was needed for the installation of the latest rides in time for summer thrill seekers in 2018.
It was important for the design team from landscape architect's AECOM that this iconic park had a cohesive look. The paving around the latest rides had to tie in with the gravel paths plus match the existing resin bound surfacing.
Work undertaken
Clearstone installed 2,186m2 of resilient and easy-to-clean permeable resin bound surfacing in Derbyshire aggregate Devon Yellow around the two new rides, a match for the existing resin bound surfacing.
Since Dreamland wanted the new rides open for summer 2018 visitors, time was tight. As clients Walker Construction laid asphalt bases for exhilarating rides such as Pendulum and Dreamcatcher, Clearstone installed resin bound surfacing, then decorative safety rails were installed.
Outcome
In Clearstone, client Bernie Keens found a resin bound specialist that had great attention to detail and met the colour match challenge: “Dreamland wanted continuity across the site and Clearstone have done that”.
Dreamland’s Head of Technical Services, Andrew Gall, is delighted with resin bound surfacing. “It’s resilient, easy to clean and maintain and provides a great non-slip surface compared to slippery loose gravel. The approaches and queuing areas are now clean and puddle free.”
