Terrabase Classic with Addabound Oyster
Addagrip approved contractor N T Killingley was appointed by Bower & Kirkland to install 127m2 of Terrabase Classic resin bound surfacing to the 6th floor external terrace at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in Nottingham.
The challenge was to install a vertical as well as horizontal resin bound surface to the terrace and steps on the 6th floor of this famous cricket ground, working to a tight deadline due to other trades on the project. Site constraints meant that all materials and plant had to be carried 6 floors by a small lift. The team had to transport the 7 tonnes of gravel, 8 x 25kg bags at a time in the lift.
The existing base was a waterproof rubberised membrane which made the vertical sections challenging. The flat sections required a trim to be installed to provide an area for the resin bound material to sit in. The vertical sections proved particularly challenging as the rubber membrane did not provide any adhesion. To overcome this, a resin and sand scratch coat was applied to provide a suitable key for the resin bound material to adhere to.
The client selected a BBA-approved resin bound 6mm Addabound Oyster blend which was installed on top of a Terrabase Addagrid and Terrabase Geofabric base. This Terrabase Classic system is perfect for those projects that require a Terrabase system with a classic Addaset, Addabound or Terrabound resin bound finish.
The finished job came in on programme to the satisfaction of the client. Simon Wolstenholme, Surface Dressing Contracts Manager said: “It was a thoroughly enjoyable project to be involved in, credit goes to the site team for working in the challenging conditions. The Addabound Oyster blend gives the finishing touch that the terrace needed."
