The design of a new private rooftop garden in the heart of London with far-reaching views required integrated benches within areas of raised planting.

By modifying their Exeter style bench Benchmark was able to manufacture items that complemented the other design features of this space.
Being a rooftop project, Benchmark decided to produce the framework in aluminium to help minimise the weight and the installation logistics. The plate aluminium was finished with a “Mar’s” powder coat giving the feel of weathered steel / corten steel without the associated staining issues.
The longitudinal timber slats produced in Accoya offered a cost-effective solution as the associated waste with this engineered product is highly reduced. With a 50-year guarantee on all Accoya timbers this option provides a long-lasting and stable alternative.
Outcome
This project allowed Benchmark to show its flexibility on what and how they can provide street furniture, offering solutions to suit the individual project needs.
