Context

Sunderland City Council initiated a Marine Walk Masterplan in order to revitalise the seafront of Roker. Having already provided SCROLL seats and benches for the project, Factory Furniture was approached to provide picnic tables and seating.

Product supplied

Factory Furniture designed and produced a series of picnic tables and benches for use along the newly developed promenade, taking care to ensure the materials selected required minimal maintenance even in the potentially harsh coastal environment.

The units featured a heavy-duty section of FSC® hardwood slats with a stainless steel frame and tubular bases. As part of the design brief, the units were also supplied with spaces for wheelchair users.

The units were sub-surface fixed to minimise any impact on the natural setting.
