Work undertaken
As part of a refurbishment project, Factory Furniture was asked to create two feature seats for the iconic tower. HED landscape architects / urban designers had come up with an ambitious seating concept which needed to be made into a reality.
Each seat reaches over 3m in height and required a design that could cope with the changing levels of the site and the curving wall onto which they sat. The sweeping FSC timber seat slats and armrests are carried by a modular steel frame. The seats were broken into sections that were assembled in the workshop before being transported to site ready for installation. Each seat was fitted with integrated top-down lighting which dramatically illuminates them during night-time hours.
