Great Kneighton housing development is located in a semi-rural setting near Cambridge and will eventually comprise 2,550 luxury homes. With a 120-acre country park, schools and extensive amenities right on the doorstep, the new development has been labelled a ‘sustainable’ new community.
All of the homes are rated Level 3 in the Code for Sustainable Homes and feature innovative renewable solutions and sustainable and recyclable products were included during the build stage.
ACO Water Management specialises in providing sustainable drainage solutions (SuDS) for housebuilding and provided its premium product, MultiDrain MD, for installation throughout the site. This is manufactured from ACO’s sustainable, high-strength recycled polymer concrete – Vienite®. MultiDrain MD is a sustainable drainage solution with a high-quality, aesthetically-pleasing finish.
MultiDrain MD is available with a wide variety of grating styles and has a range of hydraulic capacities to meet the needs of almost any application.
The range of grating styles are available in load classes A 15 to D 400 making them suitable for both pedestrian and vehicular applications.
The breadth of the MultiDrain MD range and the quality of the gratings was a particular bonus for the high end development at Great Kneighton.
ACO MultiDrain with ductile iron Heelguard™ gratings (load class D 400) were selected for installation at the front of a number of driveways and paths leading to the houses’ entrance.
MultiDrain M100D with composite Heelguard™ gratings was installed on the same site in public spaces including small parking and paved areas. Designed for a range of light duty traffic applications, the M100D with composite grate is certified to load class C 250. One of its key benefits is the multiple ways in which it can support a wide variety of catchment depths, hydraulic capacities and applications.
