Context

Livingreen Design supplied a range of bespoke outdoor planters for the balcony areas of a luxury apartment in the Quartermile development in Edinburgh.

The client requested that the curved balcony area was divided into two different zones - one for dining and one for relaxing.  The area was already pre-fiitted with lighting set into the flooring but a design was required to differentiate between the two spaces.

Working with Twig Garden Design, Livingreen Design manufactured large curved outdoor planting beds in a corten steel effect for the relaxation area. The balcony would not have been able to withstand the weight of steel planters but these lightweight alternatives were perfect for the site. They echoed the curves of the balcony and made the best use of the space.

For the dining area, a series of formal cubes and troughs in purple and lime green were created. These had a high gloss finish and mirrored the interior colours. The formal planters had cut-out sections in bright colours which were illuminated at night by the floor lighting to create a stylish and contemporary effect.
