Challenge

WoodBlocX was tasked with replacing the existing timber sleeper planters at Manchester Royal Infirmary that had begun to rot away quite early in their lifespan due to an inneffective wood treatment.

Work undertaken

Railway sleepers in the landscape environment are an accepted alternative to using bricks or stone when building a retaining wall or raised bed. Because of their incredible versatility, WoodBlocX timber planters are a better alternative to standard railway sleepers whilst retaining a similar asthetic.

After surveying the existing planters, WoodBlocX's design team put together full drawings for client approval. The WoodBlocX planter components were all pre-cut ready for installation so there was no need to use any heavy machinery on site, and their installation team was quickly able to get to work.

All works were undertaken in this busy hospital environment with minimal impact on patients and workers.
