Challenge

Faversham Linen Services, a family-owned premium laundry service founded in 1897, is one of the leading commercial laundry service providers in the South East and recently moved into 28,000ft2 premises located in the heart of Faversham.

The factory is responsible for washing over 14 million pieces of linen and garments every year and the company takes great care to minimise its impact on the surrounding environment.

Industrial sized machines working long hours, and heavy goods vehicles going to and from the site throughout the day, caused disruption for local residents.

Solution

Following a noise survey and discussions with Jacksons' specialist acoustic team, a Jakoustic® Reflective Acoustic Barrier was recommended as the most effective solution for the site.

76m of 4m-high Jakoustic® Reflective barrier was installed on the northern and southern side of the perimeter, running alongside the staff car park and the loading bays to reduce noise coming from the site for nearby residents and a local park.

At the rear of the property a single leaf 1.2m-wide gate was installed on site to allow access to the grounds beyond the fence.

Outcome

The acoustic barrier has helped minimise the impact of the company's operations on local residents and wildlife, whilst also complementing the aesthetics of the area and complying with its environmental policies.

Additionally, the design and height of the timber structure reduced light pollution from the site and ensured the perimeter fitted in with the aesthetics of adjoining properties so that local residents can continue to enjoy their surroundings.
