Requirement
GOplastic was contacted by Stoke-on-Trent City Council to look into a solution for communal bin bay areas for the Mier Estate neighbourhood project, and subsequently manufactured and supplied its Normandy recycled plastic bin bay system.
Project detail
At site meetings anchorage options were discussed to ensure that the bin bays could be fitted onto hardstanding or into the ground with extended posts, if required.
The 1.5m-high bin bays allow for 240-litre household wheelie bins to be used, and larger 1100-litre bins if required.
For communal storage within shared grounds adjacent to apartment buildings this solution provided open storage for a number of bins.
The preferred location is close to the street boundary so that bins do not have to be wheeled out by residents on collection days.
The majority of bin bays were installed using ground sockets, but for those needing installation on gradients, panels with extended legs were used so the bays could be 'stepped'.
Benefits of Normandy recycled plastic bin bays
100% recycled plastic panels are extremely robust, will not splinter, crack or rot and can be jet-washed without harm to the material.
Louvre-style boards allow air to circulate, preventing unpleasant smells building up around the bins.
Panels are pre-assembled and available in various heights and widths.
Natural colours (brown, green, grey) blend in with the environment.
Powder-coated ground sockets complement the panels.
