Challenge

The Phillips Memorial Park, situated at the heart of Godalming and dating back to 1913, is a Green Flag Award winning site covering 4.5 hectares (11 acres). The park has a lot to offer visitors with a children's playground, skate park, bandstand (which plays host to open-air concerts in the summer), picnic areas and a riverside walk.

Over the last five years the park has been restored and enhanced thanks to a major lottery grant. This has included signage to enable visitors to explore the park more easily.

Solution

Waverley Borough Council took advantage of the flexibility that Fitzpatrick Woolmer's Cavalier™ range offers by adding header and footer boards and side-mounting noticeboards for poster display.

Musketeer™ lectern displays were equally flexible, accommodating n-viro™ graphic panels and RNIB-approved tactile displays for the visually impaired.

FWD's creative division assisted with the design of the graphics, producing digital maps and interpretation, and the company's installation team saw the project through to final realisation.

Outcome

The simple, yet elegant Cavalier™ and Musketeer™ signs work perfectly in an historic landscape, but offer the vandal-resistance and durability required in a public open space.
