Bespoke benches for ACS International School
ACS International School, Cobham approached Benchmark Design due to the company's flexibility in being able to curve street furniture to exact requirements. ACS International School, Cobham approached Benchmark Design due to the company's flexibility in being able to curve street furniture to exact requirements. The school has a large courtyard featuring a central statue and Benchmark was asked to provide benches that could encompass this focal piece.
Requirements
Due to the nature of the paving and footpaths each bench had to be a different length, but by using the same radi, the company was able to provide products that fitted the exact spaces.
In total 5 benches were required ranging from 2 to 14m. With Benchmark's simple manufacturing technique furniture can be produced to any length and curve. The client opted for SL007 Shoreline benches at 600mm width over the SL008 450mm benches so as to allow seating from both sides. These are standard widths but other dimensions can easily be accommodated as everything is made to measure.
Outcome
The overall scheme created a great informal space with adequate seating for the busy growing school and, due to the materials used, the furniture will blend subtly into the background yet last for many years to come.
