Under the façade of the Scottish Parliament's Canongate building in Edinburgh is the Canongate Wall, which incorporates a range of Scottish stones, carved by Gillian Forbes and Martin Reilly, set in large pre-cast concrete panels.

Gillian Forbes specialises in commissioned pieces for individuals and organisations.

Projects include signage, public art, letter-cutting, memorials and sculpture using predominantly British stone - slate, sandstone and granite.

The preservation and promotion of hand-carving skills in Scotland is fundamental to her practice.
