Bespoke planters for contemporary Edinburgh apartments
A contemporary building in a traditional Edinburgh street required a planting scheme on the front terrace. The design of the planters had to complement the building and its surroundings, and be a suitable size for carrying through the building and onto the terraces, as there was no exterior access
A contemporary building in a very traditional Edinburgh street required a planting scheme on the front terrace. There was no access to the terrace apart from via the interior of this very prestigious apartment block.
The overall design had to complement the building and the surroundings.
Solution
As the landscape designer worked with the clients, Livingreen Design provided different colour and finish samples so the client could choose exactly what they would like to have.
The main planters are a variation of Livingreen's Barrier range, with the size being designed to suit being taken up through the building.
Outcome
The delivery and install of the planters was was simple.
They were planted in-situ with low evergreen Buxus sempervinens; the curve of the corner planters - with a cluster of Stipa Tenuissima grasses - acting as a break from the otherwise formal scheme.
To tie the garden and balconies together, the same jet black finish planters were also installed into the ground floor garden, on top of polished Ashlar walling.
