Two prestigious projects using Steintec's mortars and grouts have picked up awards in a competition designed to celebrate outstanding architecture and built environment projects.
The 58th Annual Civic Trust Awards Ceremony was held on March 10 at The Guildhall Winchester, UK. From 247 applications, 45 national and international projects were rewarded. The Awards were presented by Civic Trust Awards Managing Director Malcolm Hankey and Patron, Architect and TV presenter George Clarke.
The Awards were established in 1959 and are the only built environment awards scheme that currently considers aesthetics, sustainability, inclusive design and community impact.
Among the 2017 winners were the Q20bn Msheireb Development in Qatar by John McAslan and Partners for Msheireb Properties and The Whitworth, Manchester by MUMA for The Whitworth Art Gallery, University of Manchester - both using tuffbau bedding, bonding and grouting materials.

The £15m redevelopment of the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester has caught the eye of judges before, having made the shortlist for last year's Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Stirling Prize for the UK's best new building.
Steintec’s tuffbau products were used in a 500-metre square paved area of the project. Contractors used our specialist bedding, primer and grout: tuffbed hydraulic bedding mortar at 40mm thick; tuffbond, 1-2mm thick and tufftop in beige.
