Root bridge for stairway construction near trees

Challenge

A stairway was to be built near an existing tree. The roots were too close to the surface for a surface layer to be built using conventional methods.

Solution

Green Grid Systems installed a root bridge, replacing the crushed stone base. The required surface preparation depth was reduced from 30cm to 7.5 cm.

The solution enabled works to continue around the existing tree.
