As part of a £4.6m refurbishment completed in 2015, IOTA was commissioned to design, manufacture and supply a range of 12 zintec steel commercial grade planters for 40 Torphichen Street; a Grade A office building located in the heart of Edinburgh’s financial district.
A set of three large trapezoidal planters were supplied ranging in size with the longest face exceeding 4.5m. In addition, installed at ground level for perimeter planting along the frontage of the building we supplied a further set of steel planters which sloped to accommodate the pavement fall.
In keeping with the visual aesthetic of the building the planters were also custom coloured according to RAL specification, creating visually continuous 21 linear metre planting alongside the entrance of the office space. Commissioned by the Robertson Group as part of their six-storey refurbishment covering 5,400 square metres, the building has helped address a critical shortage of high-quality office space in the Edinburgh financial district and city centre.
