Stainless steel planter-benches for Royal Bank of Canada
IOTA's planter-benches for the Royal Bank of Canada are highly sculptural. They have complex, multifaceted forms and are made in two mirror-image designs. Bench seating and back rests are made from 50mm-thick Accoya timber treated with a specified stain and inlaid with stainless steel detailing. Gas strut hinges allow access to power supply and driver units for LED lighting

Sculptural planter-benches for the Royal Bank of Canada
Waddington Architects commissioned IOTA to create bespoke planter-benches for the Royal Bank of Canada headquarters in Jersey. The design of the planter-benches was conceived by Waddington Architects Landscape division and given to IOTA to develop and detail.
The benches are a unique and complex design, made in 3mm thick stainless steel with many bespoke elements. The seating bench was made in Accoya, inlaid with stainless steel detailing. The bench seat lifts up with the aid of gas strut hinges and provides access to a power supply and provision for additional lighting sockets. Removeable planter liners were supplied for the planting area behind the seat, and the planting area is illuminated with LED lighting.
