Wildflower green roof for cycle shed
As nearby parking spaces are few and far between, staff are encouraged to cycle to work at the Boathouse in Teddington. Landscape architects Outerspace therefore required a cycle store. This was designed to incorporate a green roof which would feature wild flowers. The clients chose Meadowmat woodland shade as the site was too shady for sedum matting.
As nearby parking spaces are few and far between, staff are encouraged to cycle to work at the Boathouse in Teddington. Therefore, a cycle and bin store was needed for landscape architects Outerspace.
This purpose built cycle store doubled up as a lesson in green roof specification and creation. Following a CPD talk from Chris Carr and Angela Lambert of Harrowden Turf, staff donned their boots and gloves to create this living roof.
The clients chose Meadowmat Woodland Shade as the site was too shady for Enviromat sedum matting or traditional Meadowmat.
Outcome
The installation was a success, and Outerspace are already looking for ideas to improve the biodiversity and interest even more.
