B|D landscape architects have been responsible for the creation of a wonderful community play space in Camden, North London. With tired and underused play equipment, The Mill Lane Open Space was developed after considerable consultation with the local community and key stakeholders. The playspace is close to a local primary school and a public open space that includes an area of local importance for nature conservation.
B|D landscape architects approached Timberplay to support the design of the space, and advise on the selection of equipment. The choice of sand as safety surface has created a beach like effect, with well-chosen equipment ideal for primary age children, for example a swing set, jumping discs, and bespoke climbing trunks. A stroking stone bear creates a great focal point, as do the Santa & Cole Tactile Bike Locks.
The beautiful design has succeeded in creating a natural play area that adds to the character of the site, enhancing biodiversity and forms an original and distinctive playscape. Rob Beswick from B|D landscape architects comments:-
“Timberplay were an incredibly helpful and knowledgeable team to work with in developing the play area and installing the equipment on site.
The playscape has been very popular with the local residents, neighbouring school and wider community and the natural play potential of the site has been unlocked. The adjacent open space includes a wildflower meadow, a pond for nature and this dynamic playscape with Timberplay products integrates perfectly into this site of importance for nature conservation”
In addition to supplying equipment, Timberplay also carried out the landscaping for the project, working alongside Higgins Construction who were responsible for the development of the wider site.
