91 bespoke steel planters were commissioned in 2016 by developers Harrison Varmer. IOTA provided a full range of sizes, configurations and specifications for the super-prime residential development ‘Buxmead’, London. Buxmead is a development formed of 3 luxury penthouses, 6 duplexes and 11 apartments set in 2.5 acres of private landscaped gardens.

Designed as an integral facet of the larger landscaping concepts, the planters are configured to provide a sense of arrival at the entrance of the property and as watertight reservoirs throughout to feature prominent water features by David Harber. The planters were also specified to include LED under-lighting, based on a plinth creating a 50 x 100 mm shadow gap.

The planters were manufactured from 2.0 mm Zintec steel and the largest parallelogram planters measured 5,300 mm long by 1,600 mm wide and stood at 700 mm tall. To ensure an extended lifespan, all planters were finished with a polyester powder coat and specialist 3-layer coating in IGP -KL Classic 34 Bronze. This guaranteed a 20-year performance as requested by the client, suitable for a luxury development.
