Jacksons vertical bar Barbican® LPS 1175 SR1 certified fencing with a Cobra® Spike rotary security topping, and Euro Guard® Combi SR1 panels have been installed as part of a crime reduction programme at the Community Safety House located in Walsall, developed by West Midlands Police.
The Community Safety House promotes the use of security products utilising best practice and advice within a residential setting. All products on display have been approved under the Official Police Security Initiative known as Secured by Design (SBD).
To promote the initiative, West Midlands Police regularly holds events and informal talks to offer advice in terms of reducing the chance of becoming the target of criminal activity. This includes guidelines regarding implementing best practice security measures.
Barbican® LPS 1175 SR1 gates
Jacksons Fencing was offered the opportunity to be part of the initiative, and subsequently designed, manufactured and installed one of its Barbican® LPS 1175 SR1 certified single leaf gates at the entrance to the property's adjoining alley. Known as ‘Alley-gating’, the concept is a crime prevention measure that involves erecting a security gate at the entrance of an alleyway. When installed correctly, this gate can help considerably to reduce a number of anti-social or criminal acts.
EuroGuard® Combi fencing
Constructed from welded mesh panels with timber inserts, EuroGuard® Combi provides a flat-facing surface that offers no hand or foothold, and was selected to secure the perimeter at the end of the garden. This solution was not only seen as a contemporary alternative to more-traditional perimeter security products, it was also recognised and specified due to being an LPS 1175 Security Rated system.
