IOTA was commissioned to design, manufacture and install a number of bespoke powder-coated zintec steel planters for a one of London’s most prestigious ‘super-prime’ residential developments, located in Chelsea, London SW1.

A total of 75 linear metres of planters were supplied, in various configurations, including:

  • a continuous, L-shaped planter - 25770 (l) x 1300 (w) x 700mm (h)
  • large rectangular trough planters of various lengths and profiles

Manufactured from 3.0mm thick zintec steel, the planters were then polyester powder coated to either RAL 8014 [Sepia brown] or RAL 7005 [Mouse grey]. A 3-layer paint system was applied, to guarantee a Design Life Performance in excess of 20 years, and to meet stringent client expectations.

IOTA’s standard design LED under-lighting was incorporated in the planters. The lighting is based on a plinth, to create a 50 x 50mm shadow gap. A hidden 20 x 20mm recess in the top face of the plinth houses the LED light strips.

The planters were also supplied with adjustable feet, and 25mm Celotex thermal insulation to all internal sides and bases.

IOTA’s planters were commissioned for this project by the leading landscape management services company, Gavin Jones Ltd.
