800m2 of Addaset resin bound porous surfacing has been installed by Addagrip approved contractor, Resarf Flooring Ltd, to the pathways and courtyard area of the newly-restored Restoration Yard at Dalkeith Country Park, near Edinburgh.

The park is steeped in history, and Dalkeith Palace, a stately home built in 1702 on the site of an earlier castle, is the former seat of the Duke of Buccleuch.

The Restoration Yard is a new development created around the park’s 18th century stable yard. It provides visitors with retail, food, drink and wellbeing space. The design of the new building is sympathetic to its historical setting, utilising traditional materials alongside new. The contemporary glass-walled Restoration Café looks out over the new courtyard area which includes a fountain and has views of the orangery and River Esk.

The courtyard area required a natural aggregate surface that would be in keeping with the historic surroundings but hard wearing and low maintenance. The client selected BBA approved Addaset resin bound porous surfacing in a 6mm Maple Gold to create a decorative porous paving for the courtyard and pathways complementing areas of loose pebbles around the fountain and grass borders.

The new building was completed in June 2016 in time for the reopening on 25th July 2016.
