LLA is one of the UK’s largest airports and carried 12.3 million passengers in 2015, an increase of 16.9% from 2014. It is currently undergoing a significant transformation through a £110 million investment by its operator: a consortium between AENA and Ardian, the former being the world’s leading airport operator. The development is the biggest in the airport’s 78-year history and will increase annual capacity by 50% to 18 million by 2020.
Luton has surrounded the perimeter of its hangar area with about 600m of Diamond-to-View Apex railings up to 3m in height, though railing sections sitting atop breeze block walls are just 1.8m high.
Zaun also supplied two pairs of double gates and two emergency escape gates.
Zaun made the railings in its state-of-the-art factory in Wolverhampton, though it has enhanced the special tool that locks the vertical tubes into the horizontal rail frame to make it even quicker for factory operatives to assemble.
